KEVIN KEYS – PERSONAL DETAILS
Musician, Vocalist, Electronic Hardware Designer, & Software Engineer
Bio Overview
Early Life & Musical Roots
Kevin was raised in Bolsover, a small mining town on the Nottinghamshire / Derbyshire border.
He attended Shirebrook Comprehensive School and achieved a good education up until the age of 18, but since the age of 14 he had been performing in a pop group by the name of Second Coming, and the seed had already been sown for his career.
Band Formations, Solo Career, & Television
Two more groups followed, Magic Mind and Reactor. Then after the frustration of trying to find a new musical direction in a different group, he pursued a solo career under the name of Kevin Keys.
His solo career led to two successful seasons at the Inn on the Park nightclub in Jersey, appearances in several ITV & BBC TV shows, producing TV theme music, and working as a Musical Director in theatres.
Electronics Design & Magic Mind Systems
His interests in computers and electronics blossomed when in 1989 he formed Magic Mind Systems, an electronics and software design and production company.
The MMS MidiLight series of MIDI Controlled Stage Lighting Computers were released onto the market in 1990 and are still used by many top bands such as, "The Actors", "Santiago", "Ariane", "Limouzine", and "The Colour of Money".
Custom Software, French Culture, & UK Acts
Kevin now writes custom software packages for small companies and has a keen interest in French Language and Literature, all whilst maintaining his musical and vocal skills on the road as a solo performer, now in his 25th year as a professional.
UK Acts Directory Innovation (1998):
Towards the end of 1998 Kevin devised a central database for all aspects of the performing arts, especially music acts. The result of which was UK Acts Showcase & Directory 1999 on the Internet at ukacts.com1973-1978
